Naruto: Who Are The 8 Hokages In The Series?
The Naruto franchise has always centered on its titular character's eagerness to leave behind a grand legacy and become a great ninja, primarily through his ultimate goal of becoming Hokage. In the village of Konohagakure, the Hokage is the primary political leader, with all of the power and responsibility that position entails.

Throughout the anime and manga series, as well as its continuation Boruto, there have been a total of seven official Hokage referenced in Konoha's history, as well as one notable Hokage candidate with a brief reign of power. Three of these Hokages were dead prior to the start of the series, but all of them have had a great impact on the story and characters of Naruto, while also being impressive ninjas in their own right.
8 Hashirama Senju - First Hokage
Konohagakure was founded by friendly rivals Madaraa Uchiha and Hashirama Senju, with the latter becoming the first Hokage in village history. Hashirama's dream of world peace was a guiding principle throughout Konoha's history, and his position of power comes from his renown as the "God of Shinobi," one of the strongest ninjas in the franchise.
Notably, Hashirama wanted Madara to be the first Hokage, but his brother Tobirama Senju insisted upon a democratic election that led to Hashirama's selection. Although he had many abilities at his disposal, Hashirama was most known for his Wood Release technique that allowed him to manipulate wood and plants. Hashirama would go on to name Tobirama as his successor before his death, and later would be temporarily resurrected by Sasuke Uchiha and Orochimaru.
7 Tobirama Senju - Second Hokage
Following Hashirama's death, his brother, Tobirama Senju, was inaugurated as the second Hokage in Konoha's history. Tobirama's time as Hokage was transformative, creating many institutions in the village like the Academy and the Anbu special forces squad, while also placing emphasis on village loyalty over clan loyalty.
The Uchiha clan resisted this shift in ideology, beginning the fateful divide between their clan and Konoha leadership. Almost as powerful as his brother, Tobirama was capable of using many ninja techniques, although he was most known for his Water Release mastery, as well as his invention of the Flying Thunder God Technique. He was resurrected temporarily alongside the other deceased Hokage during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
6 Hiruzen Sarutobi - Third Hokage
A student of both previous Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi is known across the ninja world for his versatile power and ability with his signature staff, inheriting Hashirama's nickname "God of Shinobi." Hiruzen was appointed to the Hokage position by Tobirama shortly before his death. The Third Hokage was known for his benevolent leadership style, which he attempted to balance by allowing Danzō Shimura to lead the ruthless Root organization.
RELATED: Naruto: 10 Reasons Shikamaru Would Make A Great Hokage
As Hokage, Hiruzen also took on the training of Orochimaru, Jiraiya, and Tsunade, hoping that Orochimaru would succeed him as Hokage, but ultimately deciding on Minato Namikaze (a student of Jiraiya's) as his successor upon retirement. After Minato's death, Hiruzen took up the Hokage office again, dying in battle against Orochimaru during the invasion of Konoha in one of the anime's most rewatchable episodes. Later, he was temporarily resurrected by Orochimaru and Sasuke during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
5 Minato Namikaze - Fourth Hokage
When Hiruzen retired, he chose Minato Namikaze, student of Jiraiya and eventual teacher of Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin Nohara, as his successor. Notably, during his time as Hokage, Minato and Kushina Uzumaki had a child, Naruto Uzumaki, on the same night that the Nine-Tailed Fox attacked Konoha.
Minato fought off the Nine-Tailed Fox, which had previously been sealed within Kushina, ultimately sealing it in his newborn son before dying. His incredible powers in battle netted him the nickname "Konoha's Yellow Flash," and included his mastery over the Flying Thunder God Technique and the creation of his signature Rasengan, which his son would go on to master. He was the last Hokage temporarily resurrected by Orochimaru and Sasuke during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
4 Tsunade - Fifth Hokage
The only female Hokage in Naruto is Tsunade, a former student of Hiruzen and peer of Jiraiya and Orochimaru who is known for her strength and mastery of healing abilities. She is the granddaughter of the first Hokage Hashirama Senju and his wife Mito Uzumaki, as well. Notably, her brother Nawaka and late lover Dan previously had ambitions of becoming Hokage, which endears her to the ambitious Naruto.
Tsunade reluctantly becomes Hokage after Hiruzen's death, needing to be convinced by Jiraiya to take on the role, but she remains in the office for the majority of the series. Her reign is considered bountiful for Konoha, despite the many challenges she faces and the fact that she is temporarily put in a coma after Pain attacks. Notably, Tsunade also appoints her apprentice and Dan's niece, Shizune, as an assistant, a position that she has remained in for future Hokage.
3 Danzō Shimura - Sixth Hokage Candidate
Although he was never an official Hokage, Danzō Shimura is notorious for his ruthless reign as the Sixth Hokage candidate when Tsunade was out of commission following Pain's attack on Konoha. Danzō's history extends back before the beginning of the series, when he created the Anbu subdivision Root, known for its unscrupulous and ruthless tactics.
RELATED: Naruto: 10 Villains Fans Love
Although he always had the village's best interests in mind, Danzō was a ruthless leader and sometimes an evil villain who believed both Tsunade and Hiruzen had previously led Konoha into a state of weakness that he intended to fix. A fearsome ninja, Danzō was skilled at many jutsu and most known for his several Sharingan eyes along his arm, which was also imbued with Hashirama's DNA. At the Kage Summit, Danzō represented Konoha and called for Sasuke's execution, although he died in battle against Sasuke and Tobi.
2 Kakashi Hatake - Sixth Hokage
At the end of Naruto's run, Tsunade retired from the role of Hokage following the Fourth Shinobi World War, naming Naruto's teacher and Minato's student Kakashi as the Sixth Hokage. Known for his Sharingan eye and mastery of lightning-based jutsu, Kakashi is a powerful ninja whose ideology is centered on cooperation to build a better future for Konoha.
Kakashi's previous service to Konoha includes his time as an Anbu agent and his close relationship as an advisor to Tsunade during her time in office. Although he is initially overwhelmed by taking on the role of Hokage, Tsunade helps ease him into it, and his reign is focused on building a better world for the future, specifically Naruto's generation. At the beginning of Boruto, Kakashi has retired as Hokage and has named his former student Naruto as the Seventh Hokage.
1 Naruto Uzumaki - Seventh Hokage
The only Hokage to be inaugurated after the end of Naruto's initial run, Naruto Uzumaki himself is the Seventh Hokage and the only Hokage of Boruto's run. As the son of Minato and student of Kakashi, Naruto is primed to achieve his lifelong dream of becoming Hokage, as he is seen as one of the strongest ninjas in the world following his role in the Fourth Shinobi World War.
Upon Kakashi's retirement, he bequeaths the office of Hokage to Naruto, who has more than proven himself as a powerful ninja and the "Hero of the Hidden Leaf." This master of Shadow Clone Jutsu and Rasengan has had a challenging reign as Hokage, much like Tsunade's, with enemies like the Ōtsutsuki Clan and Kara creating problems. It is unknown who will succeed Naruto as Hokage, but some prime candidates include his friend and protégé Konohamaru Sarutobi (who is also Hiruzen's grandson) and his children, Boruto and Himawari.

The Hokage (火影, Literally meaning: Fire Shadow) is the Kage of Konohagakure, a title bestowed on the village's leader. The Hokage is generally regarded as the strongest shinobi in the land of fire. There have been seven Hokage in the village's history.
The Hokage position was created shortly after the creation of Konoha by Hashirama Senju, one of the village's founders. He intended the title to be given to his co-founder, Madara Uchiha, but the village's population instead selected Hashirama as the First Hokage. Madara feared that Hashirama's selection was the first step in making the Hokage office an extension of the Senju clan's authority, a fear Hashirama denied. Despite this, all of the village's Hokage have traced back to Hashirama in some way: the Second was his brother; the Third was his student; the Fourth was a student of one of the Third's students; the Fifth is his granddaughter and another student of the Third; the Sixth was a student of the Fourth; the Seventh is a student of the Sixth and the son of the Fourth.
The Hokage typically selects their successor. If they die or are otherwise incapacitated, the next Hokage is instead chosen by the daimyō of the Land of Fire with the advice of his committee, the Konoha Council, the Jōnin Commander and a representative of the Anbu. This choice must then be approved by Konoha's jōnin. If one of the Hokage's predecessors is still alive, they may return to office rather than select a new Hokage, as when the Third came out of retirement following the Fourth's death. The Hokage's inauguration is a major event in Konoha, with most of the village attending. The new Hokage is granted a ceremonial haori on the occasion; the same woman has embroidered the haori for all seven Hokage. Once they assume the duties of Hokage, their face is carved into the Hokage Rock and they usually move in to the Hokage Residence. The Hokage's office is located in the administrative section of the Academy.
Hokage are responsible for most of the village's day-to-day affairs, such as assigning the village's ninja to missions or securing funding for the village's projects and personnel. The Hokage spends most of their time in the village, only travelling abroad for events of vital importance to Konoha. Each Hokage typically lives according to the Will of Fire, a philosophy that holds that Konoha is a family and that the Hokage is chiefly responsible for protecting that family. The workload of Hokage can be quite formidable, and as such retired Hokage may continue to oversee certain sections of the village or, if not that, will advise the current Hokage on request.
List of Hokage

Hashirama Senju (千手柱間, Senju Hashirama) was a member of the famed Senju clan. He himself was hailed as the "God of Shinobi" for his unmatched ninja prowess. Hashirama sought peace for the shinobi world, and to that end founded Konohagakure with his clan, his childhood friend and rival: Madara Uchiha and the Uchiha clan. He would later become the First Hokage (初代火影, Shodai Hokage, Literally meaning: First or Founding Fire Shadow) of Konohagakure. Although he was not able to achieve peace during his lifetime, his legacy and vision for the world would continue to shape the village and the entire shinobi world even after his death.

After his brother's death, he would succeed the title of Second Hokage (二代目火影, Nidaime Hokage, Literally meaning: Second Fire Shadow).
Main article: Hiruzen Sarutobi

Main article: Minato Namikaze
Minato Namikaze (波風ミナト, Namikaze Minato) was the Fourth Hokage (四代目火影, Yondaime Hokage, Literally meaning: Fourth Fire Shadow) of Konohagakure. He died during the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's Attack, sacrificing his life to seal a part of the Nine-Tails into his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki.
Main article: Tsunade Senju
Tsunade (綱手, Tsunade) is a descendant of the Senju clan and one of Konohagakure's Sannin; famed as the world's strongest kunoichi and its greatest medical-nin. The repeated loss of her loved ones caused Tsunade to develop a crippling fear of blood and she would later abandon the life of a shinobi for many years. She is eventually persuaded to return to Konoha and take on the mantle of Fifth Hokage (五代目火影, Godaime Hokage, Literally meaning: Fifth Fire Shadow), where her skills prove invaluable to the village.
Sixth Hokage Candidate
Main article: Danzō Shimura
Danzo Shimura (志村ダンゾウ, Shimura Danzō) was an elder of Konohagakure. As the founder and leader of Root, Danzō gained notoriety as The Darkness of the Shinobi (忍の闇, Shinobi no Yami, English TV: The Shinobi of Darkness) because of his frequent unsanctioned actions and his often-suspected (but rarely proven) undermining of specific Konoha personnel. Despite his decades of suspicious deeds, Danzō only ever acted in what he believed were the village's best interests. He was appointed the Sixth Hokage Candidate (六代目火影候補, Rokudaime Hokage Kōho, Literally meaning: Sixth Fire Shadow Candidate) after Pain's assault on the village. Prior to being inaugurated officially into this post, Danzō would flee the Five Kage Summit and died in battle at the Samurai Bridge.
Main article: Kakashi Hatake
Kakashi Hatake (はたけカカシ, Hatake Kakashi) is a shinobi of Konohagakure's Hatake clan. Famed as Kakashi of the Sharingan (写輪眼のカカシ, Sharingan no Kakashi), he is one of Konoha's most talented ninja; regularly looked to for advice and leadership despite his personal dislike of responsibility. To his students on Team 7, Kakashi teaches the importance of teamwork, a lesson he received, along with the Sharingan, from his childhood friend, Obito Uchiha. After the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kakashi becomes Konoha's Sixth Hokage (六代目火影, Rokudaime Hokage, Literally meaning: Sixth Fire Shadow).
Main article: Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto Uzumaki (うずまきナルト, Uzumaki Naruto) is a shinobi of Konohagakure. He became the jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails on the day of his birth — a fate that caused him to be shunned by most of Konoha throughout his childhood. After joining Team Kakashi, Naruto worked hard to gain the village's acknowledgement all the while chasing his dream to become Hokage. In the following years, through many hardships and ordeals, he became a capable ninja regarded as a hero both by the villagers, and soon after, the rest of the world, becoming known as the Hero of the Hidden Leaf (木ノ葉隠れの英雄, Konohagakure no Eiyū, Literally meaning: Hero of the Hidden Tree Leaves). He soon proved to be one of the main factors in winning the Fourth Shinobi World War, leading him to achieve his dream and become the village's Seventh Hokage (七代目火影, Nanadaime Hokage, Literally meaning: Seventh Fire Shadow).
Fourth Hokage Candidate
Fugaku Uchiha, the father of Sasuke Uchiha & Itachi Uchiha.
First Hokage Candidate
Madara Uchiha is the legendary leader of the Uchiha clan. Hashirama Senju wished for him to be the first Hokage, but he declined and left it up to an election.

- Orochimaru was a prime candidate to be the Fourth Hokage, but was passed over because he didn't embody the Will of Fire.
- Jiraiya was considered for the Hokage position multiple times: first prior to the Third's retirement, again after the Fourth's death, and once again after the Third's death. He refused each time because he believed he couldn't give the office the attention it deserved.
- The first six Hokage had their official photographs taken while wearing a ceremonial necklace of sorts.
- According to Asuma Sarutobi, Shikamaru Nara could someday be Hokage if he weren't so lazy.
- According to Boruto, Naruto refers to Sasuke as the "Shadow Hokage", due to Naruto protecting the village from the inside whereas Sasuke supports Naruto and protects the village from the outside. However, Sasuke never recognises himself as a Hokage due his past criminal acts and his personal life-long journey of atonement.

Naruto: Every Hokage, Ranked According To Strength
The Narutoseries is one of the most beloved and most popular anime of all time. The series has spawned three different anime runs, a couple of movies, and a handful of video games. A lot of people fell in love with the series' heart, incredible arcs, and of course, the loveable characters. At the top of the chain of Konoha's ninjas are the Hokages. They are the village's leaders and are often considered to be the most powerful ninjas of the village of their time.
RELATED: Naruto: 5 Ways Sarada Is Just Like Her Dad (& 5 Ways They're Different)
Every single ninja who has held the title of Hokage is remarkably strong. A ninja doesn't become a Hokage just based on popularity alone. They ultimately have to be the main protector of their village, after all. However, for the sake of argument and entertainment, ranking these powerful characters is a plausible task.
7 Kakashi Hatake
Kakashi Hatake is the Sixth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. Kakashi goes by many monikers, including the Copy Ninja, Kakashi of the Sharingan, and Cold-Bloodied Kakashi. He is considered by many to be one of the most talented Ninjas of his time. He became a Jonin at a very young age and eventually became a war hero at just the age of His chakra mastery was already incredibly impressive even before he possessed the Sharingan.
The only thing that holds Kakashi back is his dislike for responsibility. Yet, this is always something that's placed on him because of his natural talents and his proclivity towards leadership. This is exactly why he was chosen to be Tsunade's successor when she chose to step down after the Fourth Shinobi World War.
6 Tsunade Senju
Tsunade Senju is the Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. She is one-third of Konoha's Sannin and is regarded as the most powerful kunoichi and greatest medical ninja of her time. Tsunade was a valuable asset to the village during the Second Shinobi World War, not only for her strength and skill in combat but also for her medical talents. It is widely believed that Tsuande's efforts allowed Konoha to win the war.
RELATED: Naruto: 5 Ways Shinki Is Just Like His Dad (& 5 Ways They're Different)
Tsunade, being a descendant of both the Senju and Uzumaki, is a woman of immense chakra. Most of her jutsus also require incredible chakra control. She is both an offensive and defensive combatant, which makes her extremely formidable against those who would stand in her way. Her medical ninjutsu was very instrumental in the survival of the Five Kages during the battle against Madara.
5 Minato Namikaze
Minato Namikaze, Konoha's Yellow Flash and the Fourth Hokage. He was highly instrumental in ending the Third Shinobi World War. Minato was one of the most powerful shinobi of his time, perhaps even in history. During the war, shinobi from other villages were given flee-on-sight orders should they happen to encounter Minato. This, of course, for the most part, proved futile. At one point, Minato managed to single-handedly eliminate a thousand ninjas. This forced Iagakure to accept Konoha's peace treaty.
Minato was appointed as Hokage for his efforts during the war. Unfortunately, his reign was short-lived. He ultimately gave his life defending the village and his newborn son against the rampaging Nine-Tailed Beast. A lot of fans believe that if Minato had been alive longer, he would have honed his skills more, making him an even more powerful ninja than he already is.
4 Hiruzen Sarutobi
Hiruzen Sarutobi is Konoha's Third Hokage. Hiruzen had the luxury of being trained by both Tobirama Senju and Hashirama Senju when he was young. This was due to his prodigious talents which came to light very quickly when he was still a student. Hiruzen was also the mentor of Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru, who ended up becoming the legendary Sannin.
Like the First Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi earned the nickname of "God of Shinobi" and "The Professor" because of his mastery of all skillsets, combat forms, and nature transformations. When Hiruzen was Hokage, he was often regarded as the most powerful Kage of his time. Hiruzen was incredibly powerful during his prime. His chakra reserves started to deteriorate as he grew older. Despite then, he was still widely powerful, even being able to keep Orochimaru at bay, who was still in his prime.
3 Tobirama Senju
Tobirama Senju was Kohona's Second Hokage, who succeeded the title after the death of Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage. Despite not being as powerful as his older brother, Tobirama was equally, if not more feared because of his tactics and political eloquence. Tobirama ensured that the village's system would become more and more stable during his time as Hokage.
RELATED: Naruto: Every Team Hinata Has Been Part Of
Tobirama's ninjutsu mastery is nothing short of phenomenal. He was able to manipulate all five basic nature transformations, but his mastery of Water Release was particularly unparalleled. Tobirama also created some of the most powerful, dangerous, and most difficult to master jutsus such as the Flying Thunder God Technique, Impure World Reincarnation, and Multiple Shadow Clone Technique.
2 Hashirama Senju
Hashirama Senju is one of the key figures that were responsible for the founding of Konohagakure and the village system in general. He went on to become the village's first Hokage. He was hailed as the "God of Shinobi" for his incredible powers, which was unmatched by anyone of his time. He is also regarded as one of the most powerful shinobi in history. Madara, who even had the Nine-Tailed Beast under his whim, was still unable to defeat Hashirama. Using his unique powers and chakra mastery, Hashirama also managed to subdue eight of the nine-tailed beasts by himself.
Hashirama Senju was a reincarnation of Asura Ōtsutsuki, which gave him a powerful life force and physical energy. At one point during his prime, Hashirama's immense power allowed him to fight for twenty-four hours straight.
1 Naruto Uzumaki
Was there ever any doubt? Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, is without a doubt the most powerful shinobi to hold the title. Although his earliest years as a ninja were unimpressive, he slowly but surely built more strength and skill through sheer will and determination. Naruto was also able to learn and use powerful techniques that were way above his presumed skill level, like the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique and the Rasengan.
Like the First Hokage, Naruto is also a reincarnation of Asura Ōtsutsuki. He is a master of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and senjutsu. Naruto also received powers directly from the Sage of Six Paths, which allows him to use the Six Paths Sage Mode. Naruto's abilities and powers only grew as he became an adult. He is even able to go toe-to-toe against those who are construed as gods in this universe.

Naruto: Every Hokage Ranked By Strength
The Hokage are some of the strongest forces in all of Naruto but which among their ranks is the strongest of all?
The Hokage is a prestigious title passed on to Konohagakure's strongest, and most capable shinobi in Naruto. Being the first shinobi village in existence, Konoha was also the first to elect a Kage, which ultimately led to the creation of the shinobi village system throughout the five great nations.
RELATED: Naruto: The 10 Strongest Clans, Ranked According To Strength
Ever since Konoha was created, it has always had a powerful Hokage at its helm, and it's their duty to protect the people and defend them from incoming threats. Konoha has seen seven Kage rise to this position so far. Here are all the seven Hokage of Konoha ranked according to their strength in Naruto.
7 Kakashi Hatake
Once famed as the Copy Ninja, Kakashi Hatake was one of Konoha's elite Jonin who went on to become the Sixth Hokage of the village. Thanks to his extremely high level of skill, Kakashi had always risen through the ranks quickly. He was made a Jonin by the age of thirteen, and as such, was always headed for greatness. In the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kakashi did enough to earn the spot of Hokage, although, despite that, he is nowhere near the strongest in the series.
This is primarily because Kakashi, as a Hokage, had lost his Sharingan. While his chakra levels were better, as a result, it also meant that Kakashi lost the reason why he was special. During his time as the Hokage of Konoha, Kakashi was not the strongest in the village, with the likes of Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke all being levels above him.
6 Tsunade Senju
Taking the position of Hokage after Hiruzen Sarutobi's passing, Tsunade Senju was chosen as the Fifth Hokage of Konohagakure. Being one of Hiruzen's students, it isn't hard to imagine that she was strong as well. Together, with Orochimaru and Jiraiya, Tsunade formed the Legendary Sannin of Konoha who were famous across the land. As one of the Sannin, her fighting capabilities were immense in the series, and she was capable of fighting against characters like Madara to some extent.
Tsunade's specialty was her 'Chakra Enhanced Strength' Jutsu, and other than that, she could also use the Forbidden Jutsu of Byakugou. In the Five Kage vs Madara fight, she was perhaps the most active Kage on the battlefield, both fighting the enemy, and healing all of those around her. Despite that, Tsunade takes the number 6 spot on the list.
5 Tobirama Senju
Tobirama Senju was the second Hokage of Konoha and he succeeded his brother, Hashirama, to the position. Possessing a high intellect, Tobirama set up the Konoha Academy and the Police Force. He led his village in the First Great Ninja War, where he ended up losing his life to Kinkaku and Ginkaku.
RELATED: Naruto: All Members Of Konoha 11, Ranked
As a shinobi, his skills were immense. He was a water-style master, yet proficient in all five nature transformations. Apart from that, Tobirama also had access to a lot of Forbidden Ninjutsu, some of which he invented himself. It goes without saying that he was one of Konoha's strongest ninjas of all time in the Naruto series.
4 Minato Namikaze
Minato Namikaze, also known as the Yellow Flash, was Konohagakure's Fourth Hokage. In his generation, Minato possessed skills second to none. In the Third Great Ninja War, he defeated thousands of enemies all alone and was partly responsible for the peace that followed after.
Minato knew three nature transformations, but his skills lied in his speed which was great enough to take even the Fourth Raikage by surprise. As Konoha's Fourth Hokage, he was strong enough to fight Obito and Kurama at once, all the while protecting the village simultaneously, which definitely says a lot about his capabilities as a Kage.
3 Hiruzen Sarutobi
The Third Hokage of Konoha, Hiruzen Sarutobi was renowned as 'The Professor' and the 'God of Shinobi'. It is said that in his prime, Hiruzen was stronger than ever other Hokage who came before him, and yes, that includes Hashirama Senju. Unfortunately, a glimpse of his skills in his prime was never delivered. Despite this, even as an old man, Hiruzen was extremely powerful! Despite being way over 60 years in age, he showed his massive power by fighting Orochimaru, Edo Hashirama, and Edo Tobirama all on his own, which often goes unnoticed.
Hiruzen earned the title of 'The Professor' from having knowledge about all that Jutsu that exist in Konohagakure. His Will of Fire urged him to call every citizen in the village his family, and it was his thinking that molded Naruto's thinking as the Hokage of the village.
2 Hashirama Senju
Hashirama Senju was the First Hokage of Konoha, and one of the strongest characters in the entire series. Being the First Hokage, he possessed the strength that was enough to counter Madara Uchiha in combat. Hashirama Senju was a master of all five nature transformations, but his specialty was his Wood Release Kekkei Genkai. Using this power, he was capable enough to combat both Madara Uchiha and the Nine-Tails at the same time, which is extremely impressive, to say the least.
Hashirama's powers were further enhanced by his Sage Mode, which is what made him the strongest shinobi of his generation. His Sage Mode, when combined with his Wood Release ninjutsu, made him unstoppable. Although Hashirama was a fantastic shinobi, he certainly wasn't the strongest.
1 Naruto Uzumaki
The Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki is the current leader of Konoha and also the strongest of all the Kage. Although Naruto's start was shaky, over the years, he has mastered various Jutsu and overcome his weaknesses with sheer hard work. Thanks to his various abilities, such as the Sage Mode, the power of Kurama, and the Six Paths powers, Naruto is deemed as the strongest ninja to ever exist, with the only one capable of rivaling him being Sasuke Uchiha.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto received half of the Sage of Six Paths' powers, along with the chakra of the remaining Tailed Beasts, making him a pseudo-ten-tails Jinchūriki. He's only gotten stronger over the years, and right now, he's grown to a level where he can rival the Gods of the Narutoverse, such as Momoshiki Otsutsuki. Undoubtedly, Naruto is the strongest Hokage to have ever lived, and it is unlikely that anyone will ever surpass him.
