Peoria to cleveland DEFAULT

Distance between Peoria (Illinois) and Cleveland

In the quick calculation above, we assumed you had a private plane and just wanted to know the time in the air from city to city. But for most of us, we're going to be flying on a commercial airline (whether it's first class or coach). So that means we really need to account for all the extra travel time getting to the airport, waiting for our flight, and making it to the destination.

To give you a better estimate of real-life travel, we've put together a flight itinerary with actual airports. Eventually you'll be able to customize this plan, choosing your own airports and flights. But for now, here's an example we've selected to give you an idea of how traveling might work between airports.

Departure airport: General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport (PIA)

Arrival airport: Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE)

With the airports selected, we can estimate the travel time to and from the airport, based on how far the airport is from downtown.

Getting to the airport: 18 minutes

Getting to your destination: 31 minutes

Now finally, let's look at an example flight from PIA to CLE and figure out how long it would take to fly including take-off and landing, and time to taxi on the runway.

Commercial flight time: 1 hour, 20 minutes

So now we can finally get an idea of the total travel time from Peoria (Illinois) to Cleveland including time spent getting to/from the airports, an estimated wait time of 2 hours at the airport for TSA security lines and waiting at the gate, and the actual flight itself.

Total travel time: 4 hours

I-480 to OH-176 North into Cleveland

Cons: San Salvador gate is to small, everybody on top of each other

Cons: Delayed for an hour and a half because of a flat tire

Cons: more room, better boarding procedure, on time take off

Pros: Crew was good
Cons: Plan was in poor condition and needs updated and cleaned

Pros: Entertainment was good and flight was clean
Cons: AC was broke took long time to get ac on we all sweat to death on the plan as it was broke and portable starter didn't work so they had to get a 2nd one. Then stewart on plan says American just doesn't have good maintenance on there equipment that is a red flag for sure.

Cons: communication prevented me boarding my British flight, rerouting done by american, had paid reseved seat don't know if I will receive a refund. now have to spend my first few days back home going through the delayed flight to europe protocols.

Cons: Staff at Pensacola airport not very helpful or friendly.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: We made thru customs and rescreening and still 18 minutes early. The gate agent literally closed the gate right I front of us. Argued that they closed the flight. AA closed the gate 8 minutes above the minimum 10 minute gate close requirement. We missed our flight and there was no announcement.

Pros: Everything was great!
Cons: Nothing!

Cons: Economy cabin is not meant for anyone over 6' tall. Worst seats I have experienced on any airline. My knees were jammed against the seat on front of me the entire flight. The seats lacked cushion. My legs became numb 20 minutes into the flight. The most uncomfortable flight I have ever experienced.

Pros: Yes

Pros: One of our fellow passengers was willing to change seats so my wife and I could sit together.
Cons: I'm not a fan of American's Basic Economy, where they nickel-and-dime for every little thing. Choosing seats while checking in online does not cost the airline any more than assigning them, so charging for the privilege of choosing your seat is simply a money grab.

Pros: Crew was kind!
Cons: Seats bigger

Cons: Leave on time

Pros: nice flight attendant
Cons: had to board and squeeze into a bus to ride out to the plane. Had to stand for a really long time waiting for all passengers to gert on bus

Pros: Crew was good
Cons: They moved us to 6 different gates and took us off a plane due to computer problems.

Pros: Flight attendant gave me a free beer!

Pros: It was a quick flight! The crew was nice & the landing went smothly!
Cons: It was a full plane!

Cons: Flight was cancelled. American said I was a no-show so I couldn't get rebooked, my trip insurance was refused, etc. My vacation was ruined. American wouldn't change status either. Funny, I ate right across from the gate 2 hours before flight on the same card. This airline should be banned from flying. I do see a lot of other people are not happy either.

Pros: Legroom was great!

Pros: Everyone was courteous. Flight was on-time.

Pros: The staff was very helpful in assisting nearby patrons, attentive to the people with disabilities, and carried through smoothly.
Cons: Few staff people were clearly having an off day and seemed very unfriendly and crabby, especially obvious when almost everyone else was so friendly and attentive. Makes them stick out like a sore thumb.

Cons: Plane was delayed 1.5 hours. Rental Car reservation was at a location 30 miles from the airport, not the airport rental location. Had to transfer reservations which cost an extra $30...

Pros: It was a very good fight
Cons: I didn't like the fact that the gate kept on changed 3-4 times and that it was delayed for an hour

Pros: This was a horrendous experience.
Cons: I've had flights canceled before, but clearly American Airlines/ JFK is not equipped to manage. American Airlines online hung up on me after 24 minutes of being on hold. I waited in line for 2 hours to get on another flight home and the attendant first suggested to fly me to Charlotte then Cleveland where I would arrive a day late after I'd been traveling with my elderly parents for 24 hours. Additionally, once we changed flights and had to go to Newark, it took an hour to print (yes, print) our new itineraries for United and then when the cab should have arrived immediately, we waited 45 minutes. I was displeased.

Cons: American Airlines flying out of DCA is highly disorganized. I will look to fly to Washington-Dulles next time, or just avoid American Airlines altogether.

Pros: Once we got underway everything was excellent and fast.
Cons: Flight was delayed due to the original plane being hit by a bird.

Cons: After flying from Denver to Philly, I had anticipated an hour and a half layover. First email came speaking of a delay, then second, then about five emails later American Airlines notified me that there will be a 4 hour delay. To get from Philly to avoca on a flight is half an hour. On a bus, its two hours. If an airline knows there will be a four hour delay, how do you not provide that service? I watched plent of other flights go to AVP and even to Allentown, no one could offer one of those options to me? Cold, compressed and miserable experience.

Pros: Not over crowded

Pros: The speed of service
Cons: We had several rude flight attendants

Pros: Said it all above
Cons: Said it all above

Cons: Delayed flight

Pros: Got to watch movies
Cons: Need more leg room

Pros: Good meals and accommodating crew
Cons: Tight seats, not a lot of legroom

Pros: It was a great flight. We took off right away and were able to get off the plane immediately at LAX.
Cons: We were delated in leaving, which made my connecting flight a little tight. It was stressful.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: We lost our connection to Jacksonville

Pros: Staff was nice.
Cons: Again boarding and unboarding was very slow.

Cons: multiple delays from American airline in Madrid and Chicago, not giving me good alternative, not owning the issue, multiple flight chnages

Pros: I must say the in-flight crew, 2 gents and 1 lady for the first class were so friendly and ..... Happy!!!!
Cons: It's cold in Ohio

Cons: The plane had mechanical problems and was rescheduled to a different flight

Pros: Ontime working airplane with good crew
Cons: Setting is crowed especially when person in front reclins entertainment does not support many android and no kindle device

Pros: Like I said before the crews were on time. The seats were comfortable and big enough. Everyone on the crew were very nice and made sure we were informed of procedures.
Cons: There is nothing I can say negative.

Pros: Snacks were good. Staff was nice and accommodating.
Cons: Plane was old and uncomfortable. Part of the paneling in the wall wasn't lined up and looked like it was cracked and loose. Dear pocket back was falling off and my tray table was cracked and leaned towards one direction.

Pros: Great crew of airplane staff

Pros: Fares were great
Cons: No update for upcoming travel arrangements

Pros: The stewardess was professional and engaging; very helpful.
Cons: I would have liked to watch a movie, and I don't believe there were any monitors.

Cons: Didn't take this flight

Pros: The flight was excellent and the price was right
Cons: No complaints

Pros: Same

Pros: The crew was fine
Cons: Cramped old A319,totally packed

Pros: Crew was very friendly
Cons: Turbulence, but other than that it was quick

Cons: The gate changed twice and the plane was a little cramped and not full. A smaller more spacious plane would have been more comfortable experience.

Pros: Timely departure and arrival!!
Cons: Immigration at O'Hare was good and speedy, transfer from another era (long lines for shuttles, cumbersome drive to other terminal, long security lines). Will try to avoid layovers there in future if possible. UA plane was ridiculously tight after the Swiss Air experience.

Pros: Bad service Unfriendly crew
Cons: Considerate staff and crew.

Pros: Ease of changing flights same day
Cons: Not having to change my entire reservation I had to go through a totally different airport that I was unfamiliar and got to my destination 4 hours later than original plain

Pros: Comfort was great
Cons: Mu flight got delayed...but that wasn't in anyone's control so....

Pros: This was a horrible experience from the onsite until the landing.
Cons: Better communication from the beginning and feedback about what was actually going on would have been helpful.

Cons: Due to a previous mishap with my departure flight booked through wasn’t able to use this flight because I had to purchase an entirely new flight through a different airlines. KayakDid nothing to remedy this matter

Pros: The newer Embraer 175 had more leg room than most which is much appreciated.

Pros: Nothing, to be honest.
Cons: Terrible boarding process (boarding groups one and two together for the first time, so even though we were group two priority, we did not get on until the middle of three and no overhead bin space left). There was no snack/beverage service. We did get a tiny bag of pretzels and were supposed to get either water or juice, but we never saw a beverage. Also, my seat's entertainment did not work. The worst was the HORRIBLE TINY ECON SEATS!!! Unless you are a child or a small woman/man, I would avoid this flight if at all possible. I have never been so uncomfortable on a flight, and I fly a dozen times a year for the last 25 years.

Pros: All fine except entertainment
Cons: Entertainment didn’t work.

Cons: Made us reboard because of a miscommunication, causing an overall hour delay

Cons: flight was late, sat on the cramped little plane for nearly an hour without AC; plane seemed in disrepair

Pros: Ditto to above
Cons: Ditto to above

Pros: Again, the staff & assistance received were extremely pleasant & professional from the rebooking process & the boarding & deboarding process to the luggage retrieval were excellent. I could not have made this trip without all their help.
Cons: These planes are so small & the seating is so tight that it makes the trip very uncomfortable especially for someone with special needs who might no be able to afford the extra expenses.

Pros: On time

Pros: Nice plane
Cons: Hour plus late departing as attendants did not show up to work on time. No coffee brewed on 7:30 AM flight. Probably because of crews late arrival

Pros: Smooth, on time service
Cons: Hate Dish instead of on demand, paid $15 for wifi and it didn't work for the entire flight. No power plugs past row 22

Pros: Quick, smooth flight
Cons: Delayed twice - ostensibly because gate not available, but I was in gate area and could see that the gate was not occupied. More candidness would have been appreciated. Insufficient charging stations in United gate area in Newark. Lots of folks wanting to charge phones and other electronics, but only one charging kiosk for hundreds of folks waiting to board two flights.

Pros: short duration
Cons: So short that somehow I didn't get a cup of water..I know they started to serve it but maybe they missed our row, maybe turbulence ended service by then.. I don't know why but I was overheated and very thirsty.

Pros: I missed my flight with Spirit airlines due to their extremely slow and unfriendly service I booked a flight through Kayak on the spot, it was easy and prompt and the Kayak employee was knowledgeable Thank you
Cons: Na

Pros: Wasn't thrown off
Cons: Another delayed flight with United

Cons: Was seated next to an obese woman and had to share my seat with her because of her size. I paid full price for a seat but only got to use 75% of it for a 5 hour long red eye flight. Very uncomfortable and very unfair

Pros: The woman who helped me check in
Cons: The horribly uncomfortable seat and crowded conditions plus it was really hot as we waited to take off and as we got off.

Pros: easy boarding, drinks served, on time departure and arrival.

Pros: I appreciated that the captain, although it sounds as though he wasn't originally scheduled for this flight, flew us to Cleveland anyway since the originally scheduled one was delayed. The landing was incredibly smooth, especially given the circumstances/weather.

Pros: Plane side checked bags. Kind flight crew.
Cons: Perfect weather. Delayed an hour.

Pros: Quick flight
Cons: No food and didn't use the entertainment system.. the economy plus seating could be improved

Cons: The plane delay wasn't explained

Cons: She ddle from one gate to other horrible...having to go out into the cold wet weather...waiting for a elevator...not good

Pros: I don't like the small planes United uses.

Pros: First id like to say i got a cheaper rate on Kayak then i did on United Airlines website savings over 100 dollars. Id also like to say thank you for hooking me up with economy plus seats that include outlets to charge your devices. A+ in my book i even got an exit rox on my way home all to myself! Definitely will be using Kayak in the future.
Cons: The United Airlines staff inside O'Hare. All but one were very rude to me for no reason. Maybe thats just a Chicago thing to have an attitude with everyone but im pretty sure it was just these 2 individuals.

Pros: I have no complaints. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Flight left right on time and we even arrived in Cleveland 30 mins early. It was a full flight and was even overbooked, I volunteered to take another flight to provide room but then it turned out I was able to take the last seat. Small but clean airplane.
Cons: No complaints

Cons: I had a flight from Los Angeles to Cleveland with a stop in Chicago on December 29, 2016; however, both flights were delayed. I am contacting customer care for compensation due to a severe delay for the departure and arrival for my flight from Chicago to Cleveland (Flight 786). I also wanted to report a very disappointing experience with the representatives at 1-800-864-8331. I was supposed to arrive at Cleveland, OH (CLE) on December 29, 2016 by 7:30 PM. However, it was closer to 11:20 PM when we finally arrived. The flight was delayed over an hour for departure when they announced the plane was not even ready and present at the gate. Due to this delay, we were not able to land on Cleveland, OH (CLE) because of snow on the runway. We circled Cleveland for roughly 40 minutes and then got redirected to the Detroit. We would've avoided the snow if the flight departed on time since the snow did not hit Cleveland until the delayed flight was airborne. We then landed in Detroit and spent another hour and a half in Detroit. At this time, I called the representatives at United and requested a refund. The representative completely understood my situation and said I would be refunded the full amount to my original payment method. She also assured me that I did not need a case number and that other representatives would be able to look up this information through my confirmation number. This was not the case when I contacted United again to see the progress on the refund. They said there were no annotations and that they could not provide a refund. They advised me that the previous representative had lied to me. While the flight experience caused me to miss the rehearsal dinner and bachelor party for a close friend I served with in the Army and almost caused me to miss the wedding, I feel very cheated and trashed for being lied to by your employees regarding my refund and its validity. This experience has left a very bad taste regarding United Airline's integrity and values.

Pros: My mother was the one that flew. But after intense interrogation she divulged that the planes were on time and employees pleasant. Nothing stood out good or bad. Just the way a flight should be, in my opinion.

Cons: I've never been on a flight with so many screaming children and mothers walking up and down the aisle, dispersing the screaming. Awful flight.

Pros: 5 zones with specific lines make so much sense! Worked well. The seats were some of the smallest I have ever had, so not impressed and since I am tall, a bit of a deal breaker. I am normally a delta fan, so won't be switching anytime soon. All else worked fine...a short somewhat turbulent flight so no water/drink service, which is understandable.
Cons: Seat size and leg room!

Pros: Flight departed on time and arrived a few minutes early.
Cons: The plane didn't have direct tv.

Pros: Advised at outset that flight might be a bit bumpy so prepared us and no drink service. I just slept.

Pros: Mary at the counter for the airline provided excellent customer service and really went out of her way to get us home due to we arrived at the airport a little late

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Delayed flight missed connection and had to a different flight then a two hour bus ride. Delaying my day by 6 hours. Also the gate changed without any announcement or communication via email or text by the airline.

Pros: Long day flying already. Many flights to CLE were delayed, but ours was cancelled. The staff was kind enough to get my mom a seat on another flight that day, which was good as she was out of medication after traveling two weeks. 3 of us had to fly standby. The staff said we would automatically be added to the next flight's standby list if we ddin't make it. That was bad information - it didn't happen.
Cons: Disapointed with the service and lack of accommodation after our flight was cancelled.

Pros: I made it alive

Pros: The price was great, you accomodated my service dog and everything was on time and smooth. All in all, great experience. And i have passed out from fear of flying before, so this says something!!
Cons: It took a while to board and the crew on my first flight was not informed of my service animal. They wanted her to go in her bag but they left me alone after i explained and there was no issue on the return flight. I also think a complimentary snack on a 5hr flight is a good idea and can go a log way...

Pros: It wasn't over crowded.
Cons: When arriving to the airport it was a bit confusing first finding where to get our connecting flight, that may have been an airport problem. But once we got to the right gate our plane was cancel or re-gated/scheduled three times. We had to walk all over the airport with less and less time to spare to make our flight out. When asking for direction or where to go we could never get a straight answer, it seem as if no one knew where to send us. I felt if I was being herded and hustled on getting a flight home, I had no choice in the matter of getting my flight out. If it wasn't for another passenger flying on the same plane we may have missed our flight all together because she was getting alerts on her phone for changes or updates. Once on the flight the air-condition was linking on one of our seat and we were first told to put a blanket over our head until take off, then we saw some empty seats so we asked to move. Once arriving at Cleveland airport we only discover our luggage had not arrived yet, not only did it not arrive we were told it had not yet left London Hethrow Airport and we would maybe get it in 24 hours. This was a problem because some of our personals we needed were in that luggage and we just had to make due and wait and see. We got our luggage the next day only for me to notice my lock was not on my luggage I do not know if this was taken off or I mistakenly left it off but I really do not think I did but I will check with the hotel to see if I left it there. I have always liked United but this really made me think on who to plan my next trip with later this year. And certainly will do my best to avoid coming through New Jersey. :(

Pros: Crew was excellent, flight attendant welcomed us with a big smile and helped us with priority boarding with infant.
Cons: Being a small regional aircraft it was missing on board wifi or entartainment.

Pros: The plane didn't crash
Cons: I was originally scheduled to fly to Cleveland from LGA at 8:30PM. At 12:30PM I got a text from United informing me that my flight had been cancelled. My only rebooking option on the same day was a 9:45PM flight out of Newark. Newark is significantly farther away from my apartment (2 hours vs. 30 minutes) but I took it because it was my only option. After a 2+ hour trip to Newark and going through a disastrous check-in process I found out my flight was delayed until 10:30, then 11, then 11:41. Hardly any real announcements were made until the end when the gate agent stopped hiding. No apologies were made and wasn't even offered water for the inconvenience.

Cons: I was late to Cleveland. Thank you.... not.
