    Freezes all the time

    Freezes often but is a great workout app, fix freezing pls

    Everything is good but

    I mean it when I say that this helps me with my workout and does what it is meant for well but their is one flaw that is very annoying and makes the app not fun too use. The problem is that it freezes every time you put your phone to sleep mode. So every time I want to use it I have to go to my settings and make it so my phone can’t shut off on its own. This is really annoying because you have to close the app and reload it every time and have to put in your information again. I hope this could be fixed soon because I want to use it more, but it’s more of a hassle to use it than not.

    Hands down the BEST training program

    If your going to invest your money in a training program, this is the one! This is the BEST program for any athlete and will improve performance in every aspect. Highly encourage the use of this app!

    10/10 life changer

    Volt is a 10/10 game changer for this young professional. I struggled for years to pick a routine that I can stick with. I know I benefit from having a coach, but I don’t want to pay for a personal trainer, and group training sessions are too generalized. One year ago, I started using the “All Around Athletel” program on Volt and it’s the first time I’ve been able to stick to a routine. I’ve gotten remarkably stronger and healthier in the past year.

    Planning my gym time has always been hard, and it’s always been easy for me to end a workout early since I had no plan. Volt takes care of all the workout planning to the point where I don’t even have to think about the gym, I just go to the gym and follow what it says. Volt prescribes the warm-up, exercises, reps, and weight. It adapts to what you can do and updates future workouts to reflect that. You can even switch out similar exercises in a workout if say all the bench presses are taken at a gym. I love volt and it keeps getting better with every update.

    Exactly What I Hoped For

    I have lifted a good amount for about 10 years. Sometimes with set programs in high school, and on my own since. It is great having a program again and not having to carry around paper and pencil is nice. Super easy to use too. Full disclosure, I hadn’t lifted for about a year when I started Volt and lost some strength. I wanted to make sure my form was right and didn’t want to over-exert/injure myself right away so I started really low with every weight. It automatically has gotten me back to the point I was at in high school in less than 2 months, without feeling like “too much”. For me, the best features are: mobile, automatic difficulty adjustments, video and written instructions for each exercise, and the ability to replace lifts (in case you don’t have the equipment or are rehabbing). I also just found out they have a yearly plan that is cheaper. Would recommend to anyone looking for inspiration or who is plateauing.

    It’s nearly perfect

    I really enjoy using this app and with Cortex which takes into consideration how you are doing during the workout (some days you’re on your game, others not so much) it really sets itself above everything out there.

    I have been using this for over a year and can definitely see improvement and my son is really enjoying the workouts as well.

    I used to be an ambassador for Adidas micoach and they had a very similar program and others that were sport specific but they didn’t market it well and eventually left the market. I was not sure what to try and then I found Volt.

    They have improved it a couple times over the past year and each improvement makes sense!

    From my standpoint adding Apple Watch features, some HIIT cardio or HIIT runs that guides you like the regular programs (and specific to your sport goals) for off days vs. just telling you what you can do on your own would probably be as close to hiring a personal trainer.

    They have written and video instruction for every exercise so you can make sure you’re doing it right, timers and they automatically track and progress you so you don’t have to figure it out. Add Cortex which tracks how you are performing during the workout and you really can’t go wrong.

    They even emailed me to tell me I was paying too much and guided me to the yearly payment option. That’s pretty cool!

    Andrew

    Workout app volt

    Volt Athletics Alternative: Less Cost & More Quality with TeamBuildr

    Overview

    Volt Athletics is a software platform that provides workout programs for teams on iOS and Android mobile apps. Volt does not provide a weight room tablet option.

    • Volt positions itself as an outsourced strength coach with pre-packaged workouts.

    Volt is primarily for high schools and small colleges who don’t have a strength coach since Volt provides pre-programmed, pre-packaged workout programs to athletic programs.

    Volt’s value proposition is that they can be an outsourced strength coach for an organization without the need for a strength coach for programming, instruction and analysis.

    Key Differences

    • Volt is the opposite of TeamBuildr, whereas they do not want coaches to have much influence in the programming (pre-programmed).
    • The only input a coach has is the sport, season and timeline.
    • Coaches cannot easily change anything about the movements, exercises or program.

    Pricing Comparison

    Volt does not provide transparent pricing and does not publicly list a price or price range for their services on the web. Based on research with high school and college coaches, Volt Athletics pricing has been different for identical schools with identical numbers of athletes, sports, etc.

    • Volt does not provide transparent pricing.

    Some schools have reported paying up to $10,/yr. for Volt but some have also cited steep discounts to below $5, per year.

    Support

    • Volt does not specify any support level for customers.

    Trial

    • Volt does NOT offer a free trial on their website.

    Features

    Calendar Flexibility

    Volt provides a way to designate a training timeline, sport, phase and gender. The program will automatically generate a training program for athletes to access on their smartphones.

    • Adjusting Volt training programs is very limited

    However, if coaches need to adjust the phases to make the intensity and volume of the lift different then they will run into trouble as this functionality is very limited.

    Exercise Library

    Volt provides a lot of exercises, instructions and videos. However, coaches are not able to edit the exercise names or add their own exercises or movements. In one example from a former Volt customers, their Kieser strength training equipment was not used to its full potential because Volt did not have that as an option and he could not add in the movement to the Volt database.

    • Volt does not allow changes or additions to exercise selection

    Additionally, "Each program was built around the same exercises on the same day and we ran into weight room flow issues."

    Other coaches cite that lack of equipment will cause issues when using Volt programming.

    Customer Testimonial

    Kevin Ogden, Messiah College

    "There was a clear switch in how our athletes view our strength training software when we switched to TeamBuildr. They now knew they had a program written by our office specifically for them. It fit with their in-season and off-season training perfectly. As an added bonus, they see our strength training and athletic training staff when they click on the form videos – no more “animations” that blur through complex movements as with the previous athletics software platform.

    I am % confident in our choice to switch away from Volt, and would encourage any coach to invest to do the same."

    TeamBuildr provides a full feature table on its pricing page here.

    Now discussing:

    In this Volt Athletics review, I’ll go deeper into the effectiveness of Volt workouts and what is it that you get for the price!

    Background of Volt

    As a fitness enthusiast, I’m always in the lookout for that next fitness app! This time it’s Volt Athletics. Founded back in by sports performance professor Dan Giuliani and computer scientist Trevor Watkins.

    The 1m+ userbase and 20k+ coaches that have downloaded Volt Athletics show how fastly growing the app is. This Volt Athletics review will see if the fast-growing startup based in Seattle is as good as the other reviews say it is!

    There is a reason why Volt Athletics app is so widely used. The company has invented a patented performance training AI that’s called Cortex.

    The whole idea behind Cortex is to create a custom program that personalizes the training, tracks progress, and adapts the workouts in real-time. In other words, Volt Athletics will look at your stats and predict what you should be doing next.

    As a result, we see how Volt Athletics app is growing in popularity and even partnered with the NSCA (1). Indeed, they have rated Volt Athletics to be highly effective and applicable to professional athletes (2). But can the app be used by people like me and you?

    This AI-driven platform can be used by either individuals or groups (sports teams, military, firefighters, or police). In this Volt Athletics review, I’ll only look at the individual training which everybody can do.

    I used the Android version and after downloading the app, I needed to enter information about my goal, indicate how experienced I am with lifting weights and so on.

    Volt Athletics will look at your stats and predict what you should be doing next.

    All the AI-driven workouts are designed by CSCS-certified strength and conditioning coaches. They believe that workouts are way much more effective if they’re part of a structured plan. Freeletics workout app is doing something similar but it’s more for endurance, not strength. Besides, it’s a bit more mainstream…

    First, you’ll need to choose your training focus from the following 3 options:

    • Either General Fitness for weight loss, tone up or increasing strength & size;

    • Sports Performance with over 40 sports available (sport-specific training detailed down each position);

    • Or Tactical Readiness with military-style training. Suitable for increasing stamina, total-body strength, and core stability.

    volt athletics reviews

    They also have a home program with limited or no equipment under General Fitness where the focus is more on HIIT-style of training. However, most programs will require at least dumbbells, band, and kettlebell.

    volt athletics reviews

    Adjustable Dumbbells: amazon.com

    On average Volt workouts takes 45 – 60 minutes for completion (with warm-up and cool-down included). The routines train the entire body and focus on strength & conditioning.

    volt athletics reviews

    What’s more, the workouts are intentionally built to progressively reach your goal at a pace that’s most custom for you while still adjusting the Volt Athletics program using your feedback.

    volt athletics review

    Cortex will even tell you exactly how much weight you should be lifting. And my favorite part is when they give a reason for each week’s program.

    In terms of the calendar, if you go with sport-specific training then you’re looking at workouts 3x a week as it’s meant for complementing the sport that you’re currently practising already.

    Volt Athletics is designed for you to always be at the peak of your performance and help you get better.

    volt athletics reviews

    Whey Protein: ladder.sport

    General fitness programs will have their workouts more often from days a week.

    Volt Athletics app is available for both Android and IOS versions and the subscription is available on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis.

    The monthly cost is $ USD, quarterly $ USD, or get a yearly subscription for $ USD.

    Volt Athletics is designed for you to always be at the peak of your performance and help you get better.

    For people who don’t have a lot of money to spend on fitness apps, I suggest Nike Training Club that costs nothing. Even though you’ll miss out on the personalized AI-training, it should still be good enough to get you started on the strength & conditioning!

    volt athletics reviews

    Nike Training Club

    • day free trial;

    • Responsive and easy-to-follow interface;

    • Takes into consideration what equipment you have and adapts accordingly;

    • Volt Athletics program changes frequently so you won’t get bored that easily. This is also great for avoiding plateau (aka not seeing results);

    • Have HD video demonstrations and step-by-step instructions;

    • Allows to swop exercises if we don’t like it and substitute workouts to accommodate our abilities;

    • They keep on adding more exercises to the library (currently more than 3k exercise library);

    • Volt Athletics delivers great customer service;

    • Comprehensive tracking & feedback collection.

    volt athletics reviews
    • Some might say that it’s a bit expensive;

    • Cannot shorten the workouts or skip a rep;

    • Sometimes the AI increases the weights a little more than it should. I needed to manually enter weight adjustments;

    • Currently no cross-app or fitness tracker sync yet;

    • You also might get confused about all the programs available and not know which one to pick;

    • Limited bodyweight exercises so it’s still a bit “gym-membership focused”;

    • Lastly, there’s no offline mode yet.

    Professional training brought to everyday fitness – it’s quite unique don’t you think? It almost feels like that personal trainers appreciate Volt Athletics the most.

    My favorite part is when Volt Athletics gives a reason for each week’s program.

    Coming up with routines takes time and creativity, even if you’re a fitness expert. Following a structured, research-based plan that’s effective is very motivating. I call it the “Smart Way of Exercising” where exercises are reprogrammed rather than dragged together with no link in between.

    volt athletics reviews

    After reviewing the Volt Athletics app, I recommend this app for everyone who wants to condition and increase strength.

    In fact, I think that it’s great for all skill levels because it’s built by experts, therefore, making it relatively safe from injuries.

    Sure, professional athletes can really apply this fitness app to their career but Volt Athletics brings the world-class training to the folks too.

    It won’t be suitable for people who are looking for a short and quick weight loss because it’s a long-term approach to fitness and growth.

    For the short-term minded, I would suggest BodyBoss or Jillian Michaels Fitness both has HIIT-style workouts and a meal plan with calorie deficit included.

    The Volt Athletics app could be great for those who don’t go to the gym without an experienced buddy. Volt Athletics definitely makes us comfortable to go on our own now.
