    DTMOTO LED tail lights?

Anyone have any experience with this brand? Wanting to get rid of the stock orange and red tail lights on my ZHP and came across this brand on eBay. Can't really find any reviews on them.

This is the design, although I see this specific LED design from a lot of different brands it seems so I'm not sure the big differences.

I ran tail lights on my ZHP similar to these (Eagle Eyes) and have had them for 7 years, 6 of which were trouble-free. I personally like this look and if I ever get another 330i would run with these again...

Yeah I was actually looking at the Eagle Eye ones before which are about $250, which these are like $140. So I'm wondering if it's either that they're using essentially the same product and Eagle Eye is marking their price up, or if this is a junk knock off. Anyway I've seen other good reviews on the Eagle Eye ones so I'll probably just end up spending the extra money rather than take the risk on an unknown name.

Keep in mind... you get what you pay for. Eagle Eyes have proven to last a long time and I have heard of other cheaper versions of the Eagle Eyes not lasting long before LEDs started burning out...

Even after 6 years of daily driving usage my Eagle Eye LEDs never failed...

I actually ended up going a completely different route and getting the DEPO German style lights.

Careful with those, I think they have a bit of a delay turning on when you press the brakes.

Aftermarket black headlights - review and lots of pics

I ordered the '06-'09 black headlights from Ebay from "DT Moto." I paid $189 plus free shipping. Listing is here:
Black Fits 06 09 4Runner Replacement Projector Headlights Headlamps Pair LH RH | eBay

Package arrived in less than a week. I was surprised to find extremely good packaging, including form-fitting foam:

The lights were also shrink wrapped in cellophane to protect the lenses, and all the openings in the back were sealed with sticky discs to prevent moisture from getting in:

Comparing the two side by side, the new ones look nearly identical to the OEM ones. The rubber seals around the front appear to be high quality, the housings are very sturdy, and the quality of the black paint inside the housings appears to be flawless:

Difference between new and OEM (apologies for the pics - massive glare and reflections on the new housings because they are so damn shiny!):

I'm not going to go through a DIY - there are threads out there for that. All I can say is a big F YOU to the guy who thought the bolt on the side of the housing was a good idea, and that it being 8mm rather than 10mm (like the other three) was an even better idea.

I am extremely pleased with the build quality and fit of these lights. Time will tell if they are moisture proof, but barring any disappointments on that end, I would highly recommend these lights. My only quibble is a very odd one. The driver's side signal bulb did not want to go into the housing. On closer inspection and comparison with the passenger housing, it appears the slots for the offset tabs are identical between the two housings, instead of being a mirror image of each other. This means the driver's side signal bulb (the 1157-style one) would not go in without a very minor and quick trimming of about 2mm from one of the slots in the housing. It took all of 30 seconds to do this, but now you know. In this pic, with the light upright, it would be the slot at 2 o'clock:

And before anyone starts in with "why didn't you just paint your own..." - mine had really deteriorated lenses, and more importantly, I sealed them with some silicone after I bought the truck a year ago. I didn't want to try and bake them and stink up the house. Besides, these were cheap so I figured I'd be a guinea pig on these.

Next post with some "after" pics...

Thanks for the write up and pictures. They look GREAT on your truck!

I wonder how these would 'bake' in order to install HID projectors? That's the next frontier of testing.

We've got lots of rain coming next week, so I'll report back on how waterproof they are.

I asked my 12 year old girl if she liked them, and she said "No - they make your truck look mean." I said "thank you."

Great looking rig. On a side note, what tire and suspension setup are you running?

5100's all around with a 1.5" Daystar on the rear, front at max lift. Tires are TA/KO's 265-70-17's. Oh yeah, Spidertrax all around too.

Thanks for the review. Did you have to aim the lights after install?

Those look great. My only concern would be the lenses. I wonder if they're made of the same material the OEM ones are. Cheap plastics fade and discolor easily. Might have to pick some up if we figure out the sport edition dilemma.

BFG KO2 Long Term Review! Don't Buy These All Terrains Until You Do Your Homework!

No need to wrinkle noses, refined aesthetes. Life circumstances are different, and I even had no thoughts to write about this girl in the near future. It was in sex with her that there was no surprise, no fawn, bummer, funny or unpleasant situation, no information that would expose everything that happened. In a completely different light in hindsight. But life sometimes throws out such knees, just hold on.
