Sea of Thieves – How to Invite Friends on Steam, Microsoft Store or Xbox One?

Sea of Thieves is available on Steam now. Moreover, the Steam version is included in cross play. So we can play together with our friends on Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms.

In this guide, I will explain how to add and invite your friends on Steam and Microsoft Store.

How to Add a Friend to the Friends List in Sea of Thieves

  • Type “Xbox Console Companion” in the Windows search bar and open the app.
Xbox Companion App
  • On the right, in the “Friends & clubs” section, type your friend’s Xbox name in the search box and press Enter.
Friends & clubs
  • Click the Add friend button on your friend’s profile.
  • Also, your friend should add you by following the same steps.

It is possible to easily add your friend by following the steps above. Now, how do I invite my friend to my game?

How to Invite Friends in Sea of Thieves

You can invite your friends using the “Game bar” feature in Windows 10. First, let’s make sure the Game bar feature is enabled.

  • Navigate to Windows Start > Settings > Gaming > Game bar
  • On the Game bar tab, turn on the “Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar“.
  • Now, launch Sea of Thieves
  • Press Win+G keys
  • Click on the Xbox Social icon.
  • Right-click on your friend and invite

That’s all!

Note: If the Game bar feature or Xbox Companion app are not running, your operating system is probably either not licensed or outdated.

Can I play with a friend who own it on Microsoft Store and Xbox One while I play Sea of Thieves on the Steam? Is that possible?

Yes, you can! What I said above also applies to you.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

How to add friends in 'Minecraft' so you can build and explore your digital world together

nintendo switch lite
  • You can add friends in "Minecraft: Bedrock Edition" through their Microsoft account's gamer tag.
  • "Bedrock Edition" lets you play with anyone who owns the game, no matter what system they play on.
  • Once you add a friend, you can invite them to share a "Minecraft" world with you.
  • Visit Insider's Tech Reference library for more stories.

"Minecraft" is a sandbox game tailor-made to play with friends.

When playing with friends, you can collaborate on a big building project, roleplay epic storylines, or simply show off your character's custom skin.

Luckily, if you're playing "Minecraft: Bedrock Edition" on your PC, or any version on your phone or gaming console, adding friends is easy. And once you've added a friend, you can play with them no matter what system they use.

Here's how you can add friends across platforms and invite them to explore "Minecraft" together.

How to add friends in 'Minecraft' and invite them to your world

  1. If you haven't already, create a free Microsoft account — Xbox users will have an account automatically. Your Microsoft account is required for crossplay. If you're on a console, you'll also need an online subscription like Xbox Live or Nintendo Switch Online.

  2. After you've created your Microsoft account, launch "Minecraft" and click "Sign in with a Microsoft account." Follow the instructions to sign in and link your Microsoft account to the game.
  3. Choose an existing world or create a new one and launch your game. Once you've loaded into the world, open the in-game settings menu.
  4. Navigate to the far-right and select "Invite to Game."

  5. On the next screen, select the option to "Find Cross-Platform Friends."

  6. Find your friend using their Minecraft ID or gamertag, then select "Add Friend." You can also use this screen to block or report them, if you've had a bad experience. You can also use the Xbox One app to add friends regardless of platform, if typing complex gamer tags on your console controller isn't ideal.

    7_ _How_to_add_friends_on_Minecraft
    Emma Witman/Insider
  7. Check the box to select the friend, and click "Send 1 Invite."

Now, all you have to do is sit back and wait for your friend to accept the invite, and in no time, they'll be plopped into your "Minecraft'' world. And from now on, when they're online, they'll appear under "Online Friends."

Quick tip: Note that some content is locked to a specific system — for example, only Nintendo Switch players can use the exclusive Nintendo-made Mario items. If your world is using these, you'll only be able to play with friends who have the same system.

It’s taken a while, especially considering the number of people who are looking for convenient ways to chat and videoconference these days, but Microsoft has finally created a version of its business Teams app for personal use. The app, which is considered to be in preview, is currently only available for mobile devices (iOS and Android). You get 10GB of file storage for your “team” and 2GB of personal file storage per person.

What follows is a quick how-to on using Teams for communicating with friends and family. It is available for both iOS and Android; the two apps are extremely similar. The only difference may be in the placement of, say, the “Start new chat” button.

The app offers a variety of ways to communicate: chat, audio-only, and video. Everybody participating has to have the app on their device, and you also need a Microsoft account (which is relatively simple to sign up for).

  • To begin, download the Microsoft Teams app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. Sign in with your Microsoft account; if you don’t have one, you can sign up at this point. It’s free.
  • If your workplace uses Microsoft Office, you will be asked to either select your organization or to create a personal account. In this case, tap on “Personal.”
  • At this point, you’re told that others will be able to find you either using your phone number or your Microsoft email address. This information isn’t made public anywhere, but those who have one or the other (and who hopefully know you) will be able to use them to connect with you on Teams.
  • The next screen allows you to sync your contacts with the Team app. It’s not required.

Now you’re at the main screen for Teams. Tap on the pencil / paper icon to start a conversation. Teams lets you chat via text, audio, or video.

A series of icons along the bottom let you check in on your various activities (such as task updates), go to a chat, access your calendar, or your OneDrive files. A “More” icon at the end gives you access to your camera (letting you take photos, copy business cards, etc.), see a list of your calls and tasks, and use a “safe” to store sensitive information in an encrypted section.

Finally, a three-line icon on the side lets you set your availability and a status message, leads to your settings, and lets you set notifications, among other features.

To start a chat, tap on the “Chat” icon. The page will list people or groups of people you've recently chatted with; select one to start a new conversation. To start a session with a new person, tap on the pencil / paper icon and you’ll be invited to enter the person’s name, phone number, or email address. (You can allow Teams to access your contacts to make things a bit easier.) You can also start a group chat with up to 20 people and name the group for use again.

Once you’ve identified the person or persons you want to chat with, select “Send invite.” They’ll get a notice that you’re starting a chat, and they’ll be invited to download Teams (assuming they haven’t done so already). After they’ve signed in, you will receive a notice that they want to chat with you, and you can either accept or block it.

Teams’ chat app, especially for a beta, works very nicely and has some interesting features. Two icons to the left of the message bar let you insert either a photo or an audio clip into the chat. (Note: when you create an audio clip using the app, you have to keep holding down the app’s “record” button until your message is done.)

Above the chat area, video and phone icons let you turn the chat into either a video session or an audio-only session. There are no real differences between the two; the audio session simply blocks the cameras of the participants.

Currently, available features for video conversations are somewhat limited. There is no recording feature (although there is screen sharing), and you can’t alter the size or even the placement of the videos. Of course, Microsoft is calling this a preview; additional tweaks may come in time.

Meanwhile, Teams’ ease of use and its integration with Microsoft’s calendar and OneDrive apps could make it very handy for many people.

Invite \u0026 chat with friend by Microsoft teams free version

Minecraftis a great game to play with friends, and you can cross-play with them no matter the platform, as long as you have the same version.

This means that if you own the Java Edition of Minecraft, you can only play with folks who also have the Java Edition. The same goes for the Bedrock Edition. If you have different versions, you’ll have to buy the other one to play together.

All of the platforms that run Minecraft Bedrock Edition can play together. This includes the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and mobile devices. You will need a Microsoft account in order to do this. Your Xbox account, if you have one, will work fine. Otherwise you can make one for free right here.

Once you have a Microsoft account, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve added the friend you want to play with on that account. Often this will require sending a friend invite to their Xbox Gamertag.

Once that’s sorted, here’s how you can get into the same game.

Joining a friend’s game

If your friend is playing in their own hosted session, you can join them straight through the game. As long as you’re friends via Microsoft, you can join their session by scrolling over to the Friends tab and looking under “Joinable Cross-Platform Friends.”

Image: Mojang/Microsoft via Polygon

These sessions can only hold up to eight people at once.

If you’re invited to join a session, a pop-up will appear that you can either accept or decline.

Inviting friends to your game

To invite friends, open the start menu in-game. A sidebar will prompt you to invite friends. Once you select “invite,” you can add people from your friends list to join your game.

Keep in mind which player permissions you have active in your session (visible in settings). You can change it so people joining your session can only look at your world, or you can let them run wild, building and breaking blocks. You can even grant them administrative privileges. You can also set these privileges individually once friends join your session, by clicking the yellow icon next to their names.

Image: Microsoft/Mojang via Polygon

Using Realms for Multiplayer

Players can also join Realms, which are servers that stay online all the time and don’t require a host to be currently playing.

You can send invites to your Realm via your Friends tab or invite via a link if you’re playing on a PC. Clicking the link will launch the Minecraft app. Console players will need to be invited via friends list.

Image: Mojang/Microsoft via Polygon

After joining the Realm for the first time, you will be able to return to it whenever you want from your Friends tab. The Reams you’ve joined will appear under “Joinable Realms,” as long as the Realm is still online. (Keep in mind that Realms are capped at 11 players active at the same time, so if you can’t join, it’s possible there are too many people already in there.)
